ORCA will be operating as a partnership between the UBC Provost’s office and users of the service: academic units such as faculties, programs, departments, and courses. The funding model is partial cost-recovery and central funding is provided through the VPA office. Home departments are only responsible for the invigilation costs of using the ORCA.
Our goal is to be as transparent as possible about the fee structure for ORCA so it remains a sustainable service for the long term.
Fee Structure (2026/2027 Academic Year)
All courses are eligible for a free pilot of one-term at no cost!
Subsequently, all costs for ORCA are covered by UBC out of the VPA office except invigilation, currently set at $7/student/course for the 2026/27 Academic Year.
