ORCA will be operating as a partnership between the UBC Provost’s office and users of the service: academic units such as faculties, programs, departments, and courses. The funding model is partial cost-recovery: the provost’s office has committed to funding the capital expenses associated with running the service as long as home departments pay for the operating expenses (largely invigilation costs). Our goal is to be as transparent as possible about the fee structure for ORCA so it remains a sustainable service for the long term.
Fee Structure (2026/2027 Academic Year)
For the 2026/2027 Academic Year, ORCA will charge-back a flat-rate of $7/student for all courses, regardless of usage type.
